Platelet Rich Plasma and Stem Cell Therapy

What is PRP and Stem Cell Therapy?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Therapy are forms of regenerative medicine that involve the body's own natural healing capabilities. Your body's platelets are drawn from your blood, or stem cells harvested from bone marrow, then injected in your injured areas. The blood or bone marrow sample goes through a rapid spinning process in a centrifuge* that separates and concentrates the platelets and other beneficial growth factors from the blood. These injections have shown a decrease in inflammation, pain, and the stimulation of healing and speediness in recovery for bone, muscle, joint, ligament, and soft tissue injuries. Many famous athletes such as Steph Curry, Troy Polamalu, Heinz Ward, and Tiger Woods have received PRP injections as part of their treatment. Some common injuries treated with PRP include:

  • Achilles Tendinitis
  • Arthritic Joints
  • Acute and Chronic Tendon Problems
  • Chronic Lower Back Pain
  • Joint Fractures
  • Knee Osteoarthritis
  • Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) Tears
  • Morton's Neuroma
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Rotator Cuff Tears
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Tennis Elbow

Where do I go to have the procedure done?

OASWO is one of the few orthopedic groups in southwest Ohio performing these injections, and they can be done at several of our facilities, or at an outpatient facility determined by you and your physician.

Is this procedure right for me and how much will it cost?

PRP and stem cell therapy may not be right for everyone.
