Trauma

Orthopedic trauma is a branch of orthopedic surgery that focuses on problems related to bones, joints and soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments) following trauma. The main goal of this specialized area is to heal fractured bones and restore the alignment of joint surfaces to promote recovery and return the injured body part to maximum function.

While not all fractures need specialized attention, some complex fractures may benefit from care by a trauma specialist. Our trauma surgeons use leading-edge techniques including minimally invasive surgery and advanced external fixation.

The length of recovery from a fracture depends on the type and severity of the injury. Our physicians prescribe a progressive plan designed to fully restore your fractured bone to pre-injury condition. You may continue post-surgery therapy through one of our adult fitness and wellness programs or our sports performance program offered at the Athletic Workshop. You will also have access to your physician or physical therapist to answer questions and to give you the confidence to continue working out post-injury.
